Intertrigo
Intertrigo refers to an inflammation (red skin or red rash) of skin folds (skin that overlaps onto skin). It usually occurs on the inner thighs, armpits, underneath the breasts or a belly fat that forms rolls. The skin rash is red and raw looking and may be itchy, ooze or be a little sore. It is most often caused by two skin surfaces rubbing (friction) against each other, combined with sweat, creating a warm, moist inflamed area, especially in those who are overweight or have diabetes.
